Benefits of Drinking Water

Our skin is an organ comprised of cells just like other organs in the body. Cells are made up of water, without which, will not function properly. Skin, especially facial skin, can become dull, tight, dry, and lackluster when the water that is lost is not replaced. This is why hydration important, to not only our outward appearance, but for internal cleansing as well.

A lot of people are bust and have a hard time getting enough water each day. Carrying a water bottle around with you can make this a little easier.

Skin Health

Drinking more water will add water content to the skin, but it doesn’t necessarily have much of an effect if you are already properly hydrated. If you are dehydrated though, drinking water can dramatically improve skin health, as well as health of other bodily organs. Skin cells need water to be able to grow and regenerate the dead cells.

Water also acts as a purifier to your system. It will flush the body and skin of harmful toxins that can build up. Sometimes these toxins exit through pores in the skin, and can result in acne breakouts. People often report that by increasing their water intake, their skin is clearer with a more radiant glow. Plus, with adequate water intake, puffiness in the face often disappears.

Preventing Dehydration

Water that we lose each day needs to be replaced. Otherwise it can result in dehydration and loss of nutrients. Drinking water helps to replenish skin tissue from the inside. One of the first signs of dehydration will be a dry mouth and lips. The skin is the last place that water is reached. This makes it especially important to drink adequate amounts of water if your face is dry.

Common negatives effects from dehydration are:

  • Feeling fatigued
  • Headaches
  • Feeling Lightheaded
  • Constipation
  • Achy Muscles
  • Weakness
  • Increase blood pressure
  • Dry skin
  • Kidney Issues
  • Nausea
  • No tears, sweat, or urine

Efficient Biological Systems

On average, the humans body is around 70% water. The vast majority of our organs are made up of water, and require it to function properly. If you increase your water consumption, you should feel and see immediate results. Here is a brief breakdown of water percentages in important parts of the body:

  • Brain: 90%
  • Muscle: 75%
  • Bone: 22%
  • Blood: 83%

Without water, vital organs that keep us alive will not work well. Water is used by blood to transport oxygen and nutrients to cells. It will moisturize the air within our lungs, and make breathing easier. It will increase metabolism, and help us digest food. Organs can more rapidly absorb needed nutrients. Body temperature regulation also depends on water. As mentioned earlier, water is also a cleansing and detoxifying agent for our bodies. Also, water is used as a lubricant in joints.

Weight Loss

Many people try to lose water weight, and they think that will make them thinner. Some go far as to sit in saunas until they are dehydrated. These people are completely misguided. Drinking enough water will actually help you lose fat and weight.

Increased Metabolism
Mentioned earlier, metalbolism is increased when drinking enough water. This means you will be burning calories faster. In one study, after drinking 17 ounces of water, subjects saw an increase by 17% in calorie burning.

Can Make You Feel Full
If you are drinking the recommended amount of water, you will feel more full throughout the day. Curbing hunger can really help you stop snacking when you shouldn’t be. Weight loss will follow quickly after.

No Calories
Drinking water instead of soda, as well as other sugary drinks, can result in drastic weight loss. Water contains absolutely no calories, thus it cannot convert to fat. Plus, a lot of sodas are actually diuretics. This means they cause excessive urination, and they drain your the body of much needed water.

Decreasing Fat Cell Size
Everyone has fat cells inside of their bodies, some more than others. What really makes people look fat though is when these cells are expanded have lot of storage within them. Drinking water can help reduce the size of these cells. When we are dehydrated, fat cells naturally expand and get larger. Toxins are also stored within fat cells. By drinking, our bodies can more effectively flush these toxins from our system. Thus, our fat cell size decreases.
